The Line Unit is a device, placed in the telephone exchange site and connected in series with the cardphone line. It provides detection of the debiting criterion of the telephone exchange, either as DC pulse or as 12/16KHz pulse, and generation of the 12/16KHz debiting pulses towards the cardphone. Furthermore, in case an ordinary telephone is connected in parallel or in series with the cardphone line, the Line Unit detects the fraud attempt and releases the call.
